Reforest'Action is working in collaboration with the National Forest Foundation to restore Angeles National Forest, damaged by Sand fire in 2016. This action will protect a rich fauna, flora and precious landscape, but also to give back access to many hikers.

THE CONTEXT

The Angeles National Forest is located about ten kilometers from Los Angeles, California. The Sand fire destroyed 41,432 acres (168 km²) of forest between July 22 and August 3, 2016. More than 3,000 firefighters have been deployed and 10,000 homes have been evacuated.

OUR ACTION

Alongside the National Forest Foundation, Reforest'Action contribute to plant 10,000 trees of endemic species (Douglas fir and Coulter pine) to restore the massif.

BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT

Thanks to the restoration of this degraded ecosystem, the local population will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the forest. Tree replanting will also stabilize the forest soil, restore habitats of many species including the Californian owl and improve the quality of rivers that supply Los Angeles.
