Call for projects: development of carbon-certified projects

Objective: to restore 30,000 hectares of tropical forest and support project implementers towards carbon certification

Reforest'Action launches a call for projects to restore 30,000 hectares of tropical forests and to offer support in obtaining carbon certification. This initiative is part of our commitment to fight climate change and promote the transition to a regenerative economy.

WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Submitted projects should focus on forest restoration rather than forest conservation (we do not finance REDD+ projects) and must be implemented over a period of 3 to 5 years. The following project typologies may be proposed:

Agroforestry

Minimum 3000 ha at a density of around 300 trees/ha

Planting and restoring tropical forests

Minimum 1000 ha for a density of around 1000 trees/ha

Mangrove restoration

Minimum 500 ha for a density of around 2000 trees/ha

Improved management

of an existing forest.

What is a carbon project?
A forest carbon project is an initiative aimed at mitigating climate change by storing carbon. This type of project involves planting new trees or restoring degraded forests to improve their capacity to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The carbon sequestered by the trees is then quantified and verified by third-party organizations, and the resulting carbon credits are sold to individuals or companies to contribute to global carbon neutrality. These projects not only help to mitigate climate change, but also offer numerous co-benefits such as biodiversity conservation, soil protection and improved local livelihoods. For Reforest'Action, this is a tool for unlocking significant long-term funding to effectively combat global warming and finance high-quality forest restoration projects. Selected projects will be supported in all the administrative procedures required to obtain carbon certification.

WHAT IS REFOREST'ACTION'S ADDED VALUE?

FUNDING AND SUPPORT

For each project selected, Reforest'Action provides funding AND full support for the project leader to obtain carbon certification.

CERTIFICATION STAGES

With Reforest'Action's support, it takes an average of a year and a half to complete all the stages of carbon certification (project qualification, opportunity and feasibility study, project preparation and implementation).

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

Under certain conditions, it is possible to start the planting project before obtaining certification.

FUNDED ACTIVITIES

The activities to be funded and which may be included in the project are forestry activities (nurseries, site preparation, planting, tree protection and maintenance) and non-forestry activities (raising awareness in local communities, training technicians, monitoring, etc.).

WHO CAN APPLY?

We are looking for project leaders who can demonstrate experience in implementing large-scale reforestation programs. These organizations must commit to :

Implement regenerative forestry projects

Preserving the multifunctionality of the forest

Supporting the diversification of tree species

Promoting forests as a central element of biodiversity

Encouraging sustainable methods and management

HOW TO SUBMIT A PROJECT?

Project applicants must first complete the Project Application Form (PAF) and attach all the required documents. Once these documents have been submitted, you will be put in touch with a project manager who will guide you through the process.
