Suite au dépérissement des frênes et après une inspection du service de la santé des forêts, il a été décidé une coupe sanitaire. Le propriétaire a alors décidé de reboiser avec une grande diversité d'essences adaptées à la région pour augmenter la résilience de sa forêt face aux maladies et au changement climatique. Le projet est de replanter 20 410 arbres sur une surface total de 15 hectares avec 9 essences diverses. Ce projet de plantation d'arbres permettra de restaurer un écosystème dégradé, de renforcer l'accueil de la biodiversité, et de rendre le peuplement plus stable, par une diversité d'essences

The reforestation project is located in Dormans, a commune in the Marne department on the border with the Aisne, 30 minutes from Reims and 45 minutes from Soisson. Dormans is a wine-growing commune, as it is located in the Champagne appellation zone, an area with few forests.

This project, located at Dormans in the Marne department, is being set up following the decline of the ash trees, victims of Chalarosis. The stand was clear-cut after inspection by the Forest Health Service. The owner then decided to reforest with a wide variety of species adapted to the region, to increase the forest's resilience to disease and climate change. The project involves replanting 20,410 trees over a total area of 15 hectares with 9 different species. This tree-planting project will restore a degraded ecosystem, enhance biodiversity and make the stand more stable, thanks to the diversity of species planted.

Situé à Hafnarsandur, dans le sud-ouest de l’Islande,  ce projet fait l’objet d’une campagne massive de boisement d’un désert basaltique, là où il y a un millénaire, une vaste forêt s’étendait. L’Islande est le pays le moins boisé d'Europe, seulement 2% de son territoire contient des forêts et terrains boisés. En plus de son climat rigoureux, l’érosion des sols y est importante et les tempêtes de sable sont fréquentes. Actuellement, le boisement du pays est une priorité du gouvernementafin de faire face aux aléas climatiques et de consolider une ressource en bois. Cette démarche permettra de lutter contre les complexités du changement climatique. En effet, les arbres plantés stockeront le CO2 provenant de l'atmosphère et constitueront un nouveau réservoir de biodiversité. La forêt en devenir, composée d’essences diverses, stabilisera les sols et permettra de réguler l’impact des précipitations sur le territoire.

Iceland has the least amount of forest and woodland in Europe with only 2% of the territory covered. Crossed by strong Atlantic winds, it is also subject to strong erosion and frequent sandstorms.

The Icelandic Forest Service (IFS) is a governmental institution that works with and for the government, but also the public and other interested parties, on the subjects of research, development, consultation and distribution of knowledge within forestry.

Located in the municipality of Hafnarsandur, this project aims at afforesting a former agricultural wasteland to fight against climate change and soil erosion, and to offer a shelter to biodiversity.
The trees planted will contribute primarily to the fight against climate change by storing atmospheric CO2. They will also constitute a new reservoir of biodiversity on the island.
Beyond their action in the fight against climate change, the different species planted will stabilize the soil, which will reduce erosion due to rainfall and sandstorms.

Reforest’action is collaborating with Yakopi (Yayasan Konservasi Pesisir Indonesia) to restore mangrove forests in areas with previous degradation and deforestation, by involving community participation in Aceh and North Sumatra provinces, Indonesia. This project is designed to restore damaged mangrove ecosystems where the mangrove restoration program is beneficial for carbon stocks, improves water quality, wildlife habitat, and extraordinary climate resilience, and contributes to sustainable local economic and social development. This project will also support the economies of coastal communities that depend on fishing. Indeed, mangrove forests have an ecological function as a habitat for marine life.

Indonesia is the country most affected by deforestation in the world, with its forest disappearing twice as fast as in the Amazon. Mangroves, in particular, are the forest ecosystem that is disappearing at the most alarming rate. While North Sumatra province had 200,000 hectares of mangroves in 1987, less than half of this remains today with only 83,000 hectares. In Aceh province, the mangroves were also severely degraded by the 2004 tsunami. Land use change and forest degradation are the main causes of mangrove loss in Sumatra, which tends to be replaced by oil palm monocultures or intensive aquaculture ponds, when it is not illegally cut for charcoal production.

The NGO Yayasan Konservasi Pesisir Indonesia (Yakopi) was founded in 2019 to accompany local people and young foresters in the creation and conservation of mangrove ecosystems. The NGO is composed of members of recognized institutions, professors and experienced executives, who assist the beneficiaries in developing a green economy. Reforest'Action has been funding the Yakopi project since 2021 and is contributing to its development across North Sumatra.

Reforest'Action is partnering with the NGO Yakopi to restore the mangroves of North Sumatra and enable them to once again realise their wide range of environmental and socio-economic benefits. The project's mangrove restoration activities are closely linked to the socio-economic activities of the people and enable them to achieve sustainability in terms of resource renewal and livelihoods. Through the mobilisation of the populations, the project aims to ensure the sustainability of the restored mangrove ecosystems.
