His presence in New York was also an opportunity to have bilateral meetings with major actors and funders of forest restoration.
Every year in New York, the Climate Week brings together, in parallel with the UN General Assembly, a host of public and private actors involved in the fight against climate change. Stéphane Hallaire, President of Reforest'Action, was present at the 2022 edition to participate in several events organized by the World Economic Forum and 1T.org as part of the Sustainable Development Impact meetings.
Best practices, technology, scaling up and funding
Accelerating forest restoration, financing, ecopreneurs: these are all topics on which Stéphane Hallaire shared his vision and Reforest'Action's expertise with dozens of leaders from public and private organizations. In particular, he emphasized the importance of developing best practices in both reforestation and agroforestry, such as the diversity of species planted, community participation, scientific support and technology for high-quality monitoring and fine impact measurement.
The president of Reforest'Action also recalled the need to transform value chains through agroforestry to reduce the risks of deforestation. Dialogue and cooperation between various stakeholders, both locally and globally, is also one of the key conditions for success in accelerating the restoration of the world's forests, he said, and it is in this sense that Reforest'Action co-organizes the Global Forest Summit each year.
In parallel to these events, Stéphane Hallaire had the opportunity to develop a dialogue, via bilateral meetings, with major actors and funders of forest restoration in the United States and around the world. With less than two months to go before COP27, the fruits of Climate Week 2022 must be focused on one word: action!
