Forests represent a major solution to climate change and biodiversity erosion. As these twin crises intensify, forests must become a central issue in international discussions.
2022 represents a special year, with the fiftieth anniversary of the Stockholm Conference, which founded UNEP, and the thirtieth anniversary of the Rio Summit, which launched the three major United Nations framework conventions.

Among the distinguished guests, the GFS2022 will include Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for the Environment, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, founder of AFPAT, John Kerry, Special Envoy of the President of the United States on Climate, as well as Adriana Vidal, Senior Advisor of the IUCN.
Five round tables will be held around key issues on the fight against deforestation, restoration, sustainable forest management and financing.
