In Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, after several days of heatwaves, the 2019 storm struck the Isère department. An explosive mixture of thunderstorms, violent winds and hails swept the trees. Nowadays, the population's capacity for renewal is weak, in every area but a few. To make the regeneration of this bare land possible, a reforestation project is initiated. The reconstitution of this forest ecosystem relies on a technique which takes into account the climate evolution by introducing diversified species and planting a mix of them together. This experimental project will serve as a template for future reforestation projects that are planned in the area. Eventually, the project will favour a rich biodiversity and help fight climate change thanks to carbon storage by trees.
