Suite à l’échec d’un semi, ce délaissé agricole normand est toujours inutilisé. Par conséquent, ce terrain est très appauvri par les années de travail agricole, mais aussi par tout ce temps passé à nu, sans que rien n’y pousse. L’eau ne pouvant pas s’infiltrer dans le sol, elle glisse à sa surface entrainant avec elle tout signe de biodiversité naissante, faisant en même temps disparaitre l’atout environnemental que pourraient représenter ces parcelles. Les 8 250 arbres, recréant un écosystème forestier sur ce terrain, constituent un peuplement sain et diversifié prolongeant la continuité arborée des environs. L’intégration d’un mélange de feuillus, associé à la conservation des haies bocagères entourant le terrain, favoriseront le développement et l’enrichissement de la biodiversité. Par ailleurs, ce projet permettra de stocker du carbone, participant ainsi à la lutte contre le changement climatique. Une fois matures, les arbres plantés contribueront à la production de bois d’œuvre.

Following the failure of a seeding operation, this abandoned farmland in Normandy is still unused. As a result, the land has been depleted not only by years of farm work, but also by all the time spent bare, with nothing growing on it. As water cannot infiltrate the soil, it slides over the surface, taking with it any sign of nascent biodiversity and, at the same time, wiping out the environmental asset that these plots could represent. The 8,250 trees, recreating a forest ecosystem on this plot, form a healthy, diverse stand extending the tree continuity of the surrounding area. The integration of a deciduous mix, combined with the conservation of the hedgerows surrounding the land, will encourage the development and enrichment of biodiversity. The project will also store carbon, helping to combat climate change. Once mature, the trees planted will contribute to timber production.
