Résumé du projet
This extensive project includes 1214 hectares and 650,000 trees to repair a fire-damaged forest.
3 different species will be planted to make the forest more resistant to biotic and climatic hazards.
Once restored, the forest will help in the fight against climate change by absorbing atmospheric carbon. And the newly planted trees will recreate spaces to accommodate biodiversity while improving soil structure and fertility.Principales essences :
Pseudotsuga menziesii, Abies concolor, Pinus Ponderosa

Impact
CLIMAT
Contributes to the mitigation of the greenhouse effect and influences precipitation patterns and the local microclimate.
BIODIVERSITÉ
Preservation of local biodiversity by providing suitable habitats and resources.
EAU ET SOLS
Influences the quality and integrity of the soil-water system, and the cycling of water and nutrients.
SOCIAL & ÉCONOMIQUE
Supports human well-being, by providing resources, income, education, and supporting recreation and heritage.
Contribuer aux Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD)
Le projet Shasta County (United-States) contribue aux Objectifs de Développement Durable suivants :
Sur le terrain
Contexte local
Located in Shasta City in the United States, the area is characterized by very low forest cover, specifically because of the fires that happened in 2022 during a drought.
Actions sur le terrain
Restoration will start with a cleanup of the plots to reduce the risks of new small fires. Reforestation will then be carried out on the cleaned land and new management options will be discussed with the owners.
