Project description

Participate in the natural regeneration of this dying coppice in Occitania !

The project at a glance

  • Number of trees to be financed: 75,000
  • Area of the operation: 50 hectares
  • Main species enhanced: douglas fir, European larch, sycamore maple, scots pine, sessile oak
  • Project type: support for natural regeneration of the massif
  • Regeneration season: Fall 2021

The origin of the project

This site is part of the Natura 2000 network, a European network established to preserve the heritage value of natural or semi-natural sites. Because of its peat bogs and its rich biodiversity, the environmental value of this parcel of land in the Aube (Pyrénées Orientales) is significant.

This reforestation project is based on the diversification of a coppice mostly composed of beech trees. In the long run, the blended forest will contribute to the multifunctionality of the forests. From the socio-economic point of view, it will support a durable development of the local economy through the production of timber and generate work in rural areas, thus benefiting the population. Finally, the trees will participate in the fight against global warming thanks to the storage of carbon and favour the development of biodiversity.
